WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville Police Department on Tuesday held a public viewing of numerous stolen items in hopes of getting them back to their owners.

The result was 20 owners being reunited with their possessions, Watsonville Police Sgt. Juan Trujillo said Wednesday.

About 15 people got their property back in an earlier viewing, Trujillo said.

The items included nine guns, musical instruments, bicycles, electronics, clothing and more than 20 pounds of marijuana.

They came from a raid of two residences owned by Jim Rodriguez, and were reported stolen from Santa Cruz, Gilroy, Salinas and Monterey County.

Some of the firearms recovered were identified as being stolen from Markley’s gun shop earlier this month.

Rodriguez, who lived in both residences, was arrested for numerous charges.

An additional viewing of the property will be held Dec. 2 from 8-10 a.m. at 320 Harvest Drive, Gate 2.

The items will be released upon proof of ownership such as receipts, photos, police reports, proof of purchase or documentation of ownership.

Although the firearms will not be displayed, detailed photos will be available for viewing.
