WATSONVILLE — A Watsonville woman was arrested Saturday night after allegedly hitting and killing her husband with her vehicle while drunk.

Eugena Olivarez, 37, was charged with DUI causing death and gross vehicular manslaughter. She was booked into Santa Cruz County jail in lieu of $200,000 bail, jail records showed.

According to Watsonville Police Sgt. Brian Ridgway, Olivarez was arguing with her husband Jaime Rodriguez at a residence on the 300 block of Manor Avenue at about 8:50 p.m., when she tried to leave in her vehicle.

Rodriguez climbed onto her vehicle in an attempt stop her, and was struck when he fell off. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police found Olivarez seated in her vehicle at her home, a short distance away.
