Man struck by hit-and-run driver

WATSONVILLE — Watsonville Police are looking for a suspect who fled after striking a man with his vehicle early Friday morning near Auto Center Drive.

The vehicle was described as a 2007-2009 red or maroon Toyota Camry with right front-end damage.

According to Watsonville Police Sgt. Michael Ridgway, officers responded to a call of a vehicle-pedestrian collision on the northbound side of the 900 block of Main Street at about 5:15 a.m.

There, they found a 49-year-old male with severe injuries lying next to the curb. He was taken to a nearby trauma facility.

Police believe the victim was trying to cross Main Street without using a crosswalk.
