WATSONVILLE — A man attempted to kidnap a woman Saturday afternoon as she was attending a family party at Pinto Lake County Park.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, at about 4 p.m., the 27-year-old victim was gathering items at the rear of her car when she was approached and forcibly grabbed from behind by an unknown adult male, who attempted to pull her away from her car. The victim struggled to get away and screamed for help. Once she was able to break away from the suspect, the suspect ran to a vehicle parked nearby and fled the area, police said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult in his late 30’s to early 40’s. He was about 6 feet tall, thin build and had a medium to dark complexion. He was seen wearing a black short sleeve shirt with red and white lettering and black shorts.

The vehicle was described as a mid-1990s light blue, two-door Honda Accord with sun damage on the paint. The vehicle had no tinted windows or any other markings.
