WATSONVILLE — A Watsonville man on probation was arrested Tuesday after he was found with a loaded gun, which was accessible to children, Watsonville Police Sgt. Juan Trujillo said.

Jesus Serrano, 26, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and with child endangerment. He also faces a gang enhancement.

He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Watsonville Police officers went to Serrano’s residence for a probation compliance check at about 12:40 p.m., Trujillo said.

Officers located ammunition, gang paraphernalia, and a loaded .45-caliber pistol hidden in a location accessible to children, according to Trujillo.
