WATSONVILLE — A Watsonville man was arrested Thursday after police found drugs and guns at two of his residences and in his vehicle.

Armando Murillo, 36, was charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a sawed off shotgun and possession of a large capacity magazine.

He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The incident began when the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (SCCACT), the Gang Task Force, the Watsonville Police Department Special Investigations Unit and a CHP K-9 Unit served a search warrant on the 100 block of Jefferson Street.

According to SCCACT Commander George Rivera, Murillo was seen leaving the residence in a vehicle, and an officer stopped and detained him.

Officers found about 10 grams of cocaine packaged for sales in his vehicle, and about 6.5 grams of cocaine at his Jefferson Street residence. They also found scales and other evidence of drug sales, Rivera said.

In addition, they found loaded capacity magazines for an assault rifle.

Officers then searched another of Murillo’s residences on the 500 block of Madison Street.

There, officers reportedly found a .22-caliber rifle and a sawed-off shotgun with ammunition.
