Louie Sabala, Sr. passed away on the 30th of November 2017 in Madera, California.  He transitioned to Heaven peacefully after a short illness. Louie lived a blessed and fulfilled life. He was born on the 21st of June 1939 in Watsonville, California.  He was the 11th of 14 children to the late Jose and Maria Nicanor Torres-Sabala.

Louie is survived by his wife Susie Sabala. Together for 63 years, they established a beautiful life with so much love, laughter and endless memories. Louie and Susie have six children together.  Four daughters; Theresa Delgado, Sandra Gill (of Los Banos), Clara Keith and Cindy Sabala (of Watsonville). Two sons; Louis and Chris Sabala (of Watsonville). Louie also had two honorary sons, Eliazar Hernandez of Gilroy and Danny Sandoval of Kansas.

Grandpa Louie was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his sisters and brother, Rosie Razo, Rosemarie Murillo, and Pete Sabala.  He is the brother of the late, Marie Lujan, Isabelle Burcina, and Frank Sabala.

In his younger years, Louie attended Linscott Elementary and Watsonville High School. His nephews (who also attended the same elementary school) would say to Louie with humor, that he was a true and loyal Linscott Panther.  Louie always instilled in his nephews and nieces to be true to themselves, get an education, and always care for their families.

For many years Louie worked in the Watsonville area. In 1962, he worked at Sterling Industries, then for The Green Giant Company and also for Del Mar Foods. Later, he and his brother-in-law established Green Valley Plumbing in Freedom, CA.  He retired in 1994. During his retirement, he decided to continue serving his community by becoming a bus driver for Monte Vista School.

Louie was happy to spend time watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sporting events. He loved listening to his son Chris play guitar for two local bands. He would attend the many venues Chris had in the Monterey and Santa Cruz areas.

Some of Louie’s hobbies were playing games of golf and bowling, and he also enjoyed traveling with his wife. During gatherings, with family and friends, often Louie and Susie would sing duets together. They would sing their favorite Mexican music. Together, they would generate quite a crowd of admirers.  Family and friends were pulled in by their love and beautiful harmony.

His grandchildren have so much love and admiration for their beloved, Grandpa Louie. He was a great listener and his advice was timeless. Throughout the wonderful years we had with him, Louie left us with so many memories and life lessons that we will keep in our hearts forever. He will be missed by all.
