May 28, 1933 – September 28, 2017

Kathleen Dias passed away peacefully on September 28, 2017 surrounded by her family at the age of 84.  Mrs. Dias was born to Jerry and Margaret Hayes on the family ranch and was the 3rd generation born in the Pajaro Valley, and continued to live in the Pajaro Valley until the time of her death. 

Kathleen married the love of her life, Everett Dias in 1957.  They were happily married for 49 years until Everett’s death in 2006.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers William, Patrick, Gerald and John Hayes and sister Margaret Gnehm.

She was a happy homemaker and mother of 4 children, Jim (Pam), Janet, Phyllis and Jerry.  She also leaves 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her constant companion, her dog Mariah.

Mrs. Dias was a graduate of Moreland Notre Dame High School and later worked as the cafeteria manager at Moreland Notre Dame School. She was an active member of the Holy Eucharist Church Community. She was also active with the Santa Cruz County Fair Ag-Horticultural Department, and was previously a member and advisor for the FFA and 4-H.  She also was an accomplished equestrian winning numerous awards at the local and state level.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Holy Eucharist Church, 527 Corralitos Road, Corralitos.

Donations may be made in Kathleen’s name to Holy Eucharists Church (Feed the Hungry Program), or Hospice of Santa Cruz County. Mehl’s Colonial Chapel was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
