Hazel Blase Blaylock passed away May 22, 2018, just 3 weeks shy of her 95th birthday.

The staff at Watsonville Post Acute Care had taken great care of her the past 4 years as she suffered from Alzheimer’s.

Born and raised in Wilsey, Kansas, the family moved to California in 1962. Hazel had lived in Cupertino, Reno, Oregon, and Gridley, CA. She moved to Freedom in 2006 to be cared for by her youngest daughter Donna.

Hazel volunteered at Watsonville Hospital as a Pink Lady for several years before her health began to fail. She also enjoyed attending Starlight Elementary’s annual staff parties with Donna (before she retired from teaching).

Hazel is survived by a huge extended family, including her living siblings, 4 children, 3 grandsons, and 3 great-grandsons. Sharyn (Ray), their son Andrew (Dejah) and great-grandson Jace Obrigewitsch; Bill Blase Jr (Linda), their son Justin; Donna Blase, her son Isaac Bohigian, and great-grandsons Kyrie Bohigian and Donoven James; and Robert (Denise) Blase.

A lively, gentle, sweet, funny, and loving mother, she loved to dance and sing. Hazel will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
