WATSONVILLE — The City of Watsonville is looking for input on possible zoning changes that would affect medical facilities looking to move into shopping centers.

A community workshop will be held Monday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Civic Center Community Room, 275 Main St., fourth floor.

City officials are exploring potential changes to the Commercial Neighborhood Shopping Center (CNS) and Commercial Thoroughfare (CT) zoned properties that would:

• Require a special use permit for medical office/health services uses

• Ensure shopping centers remain primarily commercial/retail centers

• Allow for balanced expansion of health service uses in shopping centers

In April, the Watsonville City Council approved a 45-day moratorium on new medical centers in shopping center and commercial districts. It denied extending the moratorium on May 9.
