WATSONVILLE — Benigno Ayala died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017.

Mr. Ayala’s life was devoted to his family. He cherished family gatherings and loved being around his grandchildren. Mr. Ayala was an avid soccer fan. He was also dedicated and committed to his serving his church and God. He was a proud “changelongo” maker. He loved to read and to tell stories about his life, especially about when he met his wife.

Mr. Ayala is survived by his wife, Carolina Ayala; his children, Carmen Velazquez, Julio Ayala, Elizabeth Ayala, Marlene Velazquez, Carlos Ayala, Edgar Ayala and Manuel Velazquez; siblings, Porfirio and Samuel; and his 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14 from 5-9 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 15 at St. Patrick’s Church at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
