Esmeralda Benavidez died Tuesday, October 27, 2009. She was 45.

Born in La Mesa, Texas, Ms. Benavidez was known as a free-spirited person who played by no rules. She was known to challenge life itself and refuse to look back.

Ms. Benavidez is survived by her parents, Marcos and Eppie of Freedom; five sons, Jermiah, Adrian, Joel, Joed and Desi, all of Texas; grandmother, Cleo of Arizona; siblings, Johnny and Barbara of Watsonville, Joe and Belinda Garcia of Royal Oaks and Maria Epino of Salinas; and many nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts. She was preceded in death by her brother Roy.

A celebration of life will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the VFW Hall, 1954 Freedom Blvd. in Freedom.
