Emilia Sandoval died after a long illness Thursday, November 12, 2009, at a Watsonville convalescent hospital. She was 77.

A native of Fresno, Mrs. Sandoval lived in Santa Cruz County since 1972. She worked in several local canneries and attended St. Patrick’s Church.

Mrs. Sandoval is survived by two daughters, Anna Buendia of Mexico and Sylvia Sandoval of Watsonville; five sons, Mario and Carlos Buendia of Mexico, Frank Buendia of San Diego, Gustavo Sandoval of Los Banos and Juan Sandoval of Madera; sister, Irene Baena-Sandoval; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5-9 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
