WATSONVILLE — Watsonville resident Jimmy Dutra filed his paperwork for a run at the Watsonville City Council District 4 seat Thursday, lining himself up as the only candidate to challenge incumbent Eduardo Montesino in the Nov. 4 election.

Dutra, 39, recently came in third in a four-way race for the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors Fourth District Seat, garnering nearly 24 percent of the vote.

Dutra will now jump back into campaigning mode, despite plans to continue working with his family’s eponymous farming business and run his Halloween pumpkin patch on East Lake Avenue.

“I have a very busy few months ahead of me,” he said.
