WATSONVILLE Joe Myers, a longtime Watsonville resident and World War II veteran who was involved with many military organizations, died Thursday after complications from a stroke. He was 92.

Helen Myers, who was married to Joe Myers for almost 52 years, said he suffered from a stroke in May. After returning to Watsonville Post Acute Center from El Camino Hospital in Mountain View two weeks ago, his health slowly declined. He died peacefully in his sleep early Thursday morning, Helen Myers said.

Joe Myers was born on Feb. 2, 1922 in Lawrence, Mass. He joined the Army in 1940.
