WATSONVILLE — When he was 21 years old, Nick Adams flew from Watsonville Municipal Airport to Cabo San Lucas.
The 2,000-mile trip, which Adams took with priest Mike Cross in 1980, proved to be more difficult than they previously imagined: Crash landings, hurricanes, black fog and more were some of the obstacles they faced.
"We almost died a couple of times," Adams said. "I didn't think I was going to get back. The plane was out of control, and I learned a lot about life on that trip."
That experience has now led to Adams writing his first book, "Father Adams," published by Tate Publishing.
The author will be signing copies of the book Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Crossroads Books, 1935 Main St. in Watsonville.
