SANTA CRUZ — Police in Georgia are taking a fresh look at a suspicious death there after a Santa Cruz murder case showed strikingly similar patterns.
Alix Tichelman has been charged in the November heroin overdose death of Google executive Forrest Hayes, 51. According to police, Tichelman was working as a prostitute when she visited Hayes on his yacht in the Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor.
Investigators say video surveillance footage shoes Tichelman injecting a massive heroin dose into Hayes, after which he became unconscious. Tichelman then gathered her belongings, including her heroin and needles, and stepped over Hayes body to take a last sip of wine before she closed the blinds and left.
“She was so callous that in gathering her things she was literally stepping over the body,” Santa Cruz Police Deputy Chief Steve Clark said.
But just two months earlier, Tichelman made a 911 call in Milton, Ga. after her boyfriend Dean Riopelle collapsed. For the complete article see the 07-12-2014 issue.
