LIVE OAK — A Santa Cruz man was arrested early Thursday morning and charged with vandalism and a probation violation after he was caught with graffiti tools and evidence connecting him to several tagging incidents, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Alexander Tinaza, 20, was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.

According to Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Kennedy, deputies on routine patrol noticed Tinaza and Mariah Matter, 18, entering Live Oak Elementary School grounds approximately 2:30 a.m.

Tinaza was found to be in possession of multiple items used for graffiti and evidence connecting him to several previously reported tagging incidents in the Santa Cruz area, Kennedy said. He is known to use the moniker “NERD” and the initials “WVK” in tagging incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division at 454-2311, or the anonymous tip line at 454-2847.
