CENTRAL COAST — The 42nd annual Wharf to Wharf race has set a new record: All 16,000 openings sold out in 19 hours.

Scott McConville, race director, said racers this year are coming from more than 40 states and more than 10 countries including New Zealand, Japan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Canada.

“It is the same six-mile course with about 50 live bands playing along the route,” McConville said. “It’s a fun event that makes for a great experience not just for the runners but observers as well. It is a unique event.”
