Summer Meal Program in full swing

WATSONVILLE ó†For many students, eating a school lunch is no less than a rite of passage.

Itís a time for them to chat with friends, take a break from grinding academia and, too often, blow bubbles in their milk as they try to hide it from lunchroom monitors.

But for a large percentage of kids, itís also the only meal they get throughout the day. When summer brings the school year to a close, so too ends those meals.

Thanks to a program run by La Manzana Community Resources, those kids can still get their mid-day sustenance throughout the summer, and outdoor playtime to boot.
