Special Olympics torch traverses county

WATSONVILLE The "Flame of Hope" is halfway through its journey to the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games in Davis, traversing its way through Santa Cruz County Wednesday with the help of law enforcement personnel.

Watsonville Police kicked off the county leg of the tour at 8 a.m. on Main Street, making their way down Freedom Boulevard to hand it off to California Highway Patrol officers in Corralitos.

From there, the torch traveled to Capitola and Santa Cruz, ending the day in Scotts Valley around 2:30 p.m.
