WATSONVILLE — Helen (Blohm) Dossche died peacefully at the age of 95.
Mrs. Dossche was the daughter of Herman and Anna (Kirby) Blohm of the Elkhorn District in Watsonville. She was the last surviving granddaughter of James and Mary Kirby, Irish immigrants who settled in Monterey County in the 1870s. She was the youngest daughter of a family of six. Her siblings were Robert, Kenneth, and Kirby Blohm, Maurine Sherriff and Anna Terry.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years Peter John “Slim;” son, Dan; and daughter, Julie. She is survived by her children, Tim and Paul Dossche, Beth Boles; and seven grandchildren.
Viewing and Rosary will take place at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel Monday, April 21. Viewing will begin at 5 p.m. followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass will be held Tuesday, April 22, at Assumption Church in Pajaro at 10 a.m. followed by a graveside ceremony at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Santa Cruz. Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Helen’s honor to Moreland Notre Dame School (133 Brennan St. Watsonville, CA, 95076) or Boy Scout Troop 505 (35 Secondo Way, Watsonville, CA, 95076).
