Carmen Heredia Sanchez passed away peacefully in Los Angeles County on April 17, 2014. She was 90.
Carmen was born to Abraham Heredia and Rita Sanchez at Flagstaff, Arizona on July 15, 1923. After being an orphan at a young age, Carmen was raised by the Sanchez family in Mexico that eventually moved to Watsonville, where she worked hard in the fields and in local canneries. She also ended up residing in Sunnyvale and Las Vegas. She was a great storyteller and loved traveling to Mexico with her nephew Gustavo Heredia. Carmen was a very generous person to children and her family. She attended St. Patrickís Church. She will be missed!
She is survived by brother Pablo Heredia, nephews Gustavo Heredia and Jaime Heredia of Watsonville, Martin Heredia of Mexico. Nieces Rosario Espinoza of Las Vegas, Maribel Espinoza and Rita Cerda of Orange County. Cousins, Adelina Juarez and Jesus Sanchez.
Visitation for Carmen will be held at Mehlís Colonial Chapel on Thursday, April 24th from 5-9p.m., with the Rosary at 7pm. A Mass will be at St. Patrickís Church Friday, April 25th at 10am with the burial following at Valley Public Cemetery.
