Local Round Up:Cocroft, Johnson hosting football camp at Cabrillo

NFL players Nick Johnson and Sherman Cocroft are hosting the 7 on 7 Training Academy Football Camp Saturday at Cabrillo College at 9 a.m.

The camp is $75 dollars and 20 percent of all proceeds will go to Cabrillo College’s new athletic training facility.

BOY’S TENNIS

Monte Vista Christian 5, Oakwood 2 - Monte Vista Christian defeated Oakwood High 5-2 Tuesday.

Colby Richardson won 6-1, 6-2, and his teammate Antonio Ruiz followed him with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

The Mustangs swept the three doubles matches to win the non-league meeting.

SOFTBALL

San Lorenzo Valley 5, Watsonville 0 - The Watsonville Wildcatz fell 5-0 to the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars in a non-league match Tuesday at Watsonville High.

Samantha Sakai took the loss for the Catz (1-1) despite racking up seven strikeouts and allowing only one earned run.

Watsonville had three errors.

The Wildcatz host Anzar today at 4 p.m.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Cabrillo 2, Hartnell 1 - The Cabrillo College Seahawks held of the Hartnell Panthers for a 2-1 Tuesday-afternoon win to remain perfect, 3-0, in Coast Conference play.

Ryan Capozza went seven innings giving up five hits and recording eight strikeouts.

Eddy Puga finished the final two innings to record the save.

Scott Mercer and Caleb Fidiam knocked in the two runs.

The Seahawks host Chabot today at 2 p.m.
