'A diamond in the rough:' Pajaro Park opens to the public

PAJARO A group of small children climbed over a series of colorful, fabric-covered play domes Thursday at Pajaro Neighborhood Park, as their parents kept a watchful eye on them while sitting in a shaded patio area.

Meanwhile, a group of men were practicing their soccer skills on a synthetic turf field, while others were swishing basketballs through two hoops at a nearby court.

At the same time, groups of families slowly trickled in as the day progressed to check out the new recreational area.

Exactly what the creators behind the park had envisioned.

Pajaro Park, located at 24 San Juan Road, opened for the public this week, with a grand-opening celebration scheduled for March 16.
