WATSONVILLE — A man who was dropped off at Watsonville Community Hospital Sunday morning with a gunshot wound was later pronounced dead.
Watsonville Police Detective Charles Bailey said that around 3:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to the Watsonville Community Hospital Emergency Room. Hospital personnel reported that a male subject was brought to the ER and had suffered a single gunshot wound.
Upon arrival at the hospital, officers learned that three unknown males dropped the victim off at the entrance to the ER. The men then quickly fled from the hospital in a vehicle without providing any information, Bailey said.
Due to the severity of the victim's injury, life-saving measures were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was later identified as 19-year-old Ryan Michael Dean.
Police are investigating the incident as gang-related homicide.
