PEBBLE BEACH ó Scribbled autographs and souvenir photographs were the order of the day Wednesday at the annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Amís 3M Celebrity Challenge. Famous country singers, football stars and actors took turns knocking the golf ball through five holes while joking with the crowd and clowning for the camera.

The 3M Celebrity Challenge has been a traditional lead-in to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am since its inception in 1937, when crooner Bing Crosby hosted the first National Pro-Amateur Golf Championship in Rancho Santa Fe.

The event is ultimately a light-hearted shootout, with the winner receiving a cash prize for the charity of their choice, often in the range of $100,000. Fans typically follow along hoping to score an autograph or take a picture.
