Taco truck robbed at gunpoint, suspect fires shots

WATSONVILLE — A man working in a taco truck was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday by a suspect who fired four shots at the victim who pursued him.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery occurred approximately 11:30 in a raspberry field near Riverside Drive and Coward Road.

Witnesses said the suspect was a Hispanic man in his 20s who pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money.

Dozens of deputies and officers from the Watsonville Police Department searched the area but did not find a suspect.

Investigators said Wednesday that they did find a gun that may have been connected to the robbery.
