Local Round Up: Golden State Warriors waive guard Cameron Jones

The Golden State Warriors released Cameron Jones Wednesday afternoon.

Jones, 24, has appeared in all three of Golden State’s 2013 preseason games, averaging 2.7 points and 1.3 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per contest.

Jones was a starter for the Santa Cruz Warriors last season. He helped them to a NBA D-League Finals appearance.



•Pajaro Valley Def. North Salinas: The Pajaro Valley Girls Tennis Team won their fourth consecutive Monterey Bay League Pacific game beating North Salinas 5-2 Tuesday.

No. 1 singles Senior Katiana Guillen won her match 7-5, 6-1 against Daphne Cia. No. 3 singles Kiany Vela-deLuna won 6-1, 6-2, against Dakota Gulick. No. 4 singles Jennifer Soriano-Palma won against Melissa Mulengwa.

No. 1 doubles team Chelsi Ocampo & Romina Rodriguez Villaruel took the match at 1-6, 6-0, 10-3 against Kassandra Rizo & Melissa Moriyama. No. 2 doubles team Andrea Ramos & Abigail Belonzi won at 1-6, 7-6, 7-5.

Next league game for PV will be against Gilroy at Gilroy High Today.

•St. Francis Def. Scotts Valley: The St. Francis Sharks remained unbeaten in Santa Cruz Coastal Athletic League play with a 5-2 win over the Scotts Valley Falcons.

They dropped a singles and a doubles match in the win.

Claire Casper took over the No. 1 spot and beat Desi Rakel 6-4, 7-5. Sydney Gerami was the No. 3 player and won 6-3, 6-1. Meg Guild played in the No. 4 spot won 6-3, 7-5.

No. 1 doubles Amber Martinez and Alicia Castro won 6-1, 6-2, and No. 2 doubles Jane Salady and Erica Leung won 6-2, 61.

•Aptos Def. Harbor: The Aptos Mariners defeated the Harbor Pirates in a 7-0 sweep on Tuesday.

The Mariners will play St. Francis Central Coast Catholic Today at Aptos High School at 4 p.m.

•San Benito Def. Watsonville: Sara Benavidez was the lone bright spot for the Watsonville Wildcatz in their 6-1 loss to the San Benito Haybaylers Tuesday in Hollister.

Benavidez won her match 6-2, 6-2.

•Monte Vista Christian Def. Gilroy: The Monte Vista Christian Mustangs trampled the Gilroy Mustangs 5-2 Tuesday.

No. 1 Grace Tao, No. 2 Katie Riordan, No. 3 McKenna Fahl and No. 4 Larissa Tao all won their singles matches.

Rika Hsieh and Kathy sun, No. 3 doubles, were the only doubles winners for MVC.



•Pajaro Valley Def. Gilroy: The Pajaro Valley Grizzlies (2-2 MBL-P) lost their second Monterey Bay League Pacific match of the season as the Gilroy Mustangs took them down in four sets 25-20, 25-19, 25-23, 26-24.

Diamond Gallardo had five aces and five digs. Liz Zepeda notched five digs. Allison Espinoza smashed seven kills and Alyssa Rivera trailed her with six. Holly Holbert had 19 assists.

They play Alvarez Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Alvarez High School.

•Watsonville Def. North Salinas: The Watsonville Wildcatz beat the North Salinas 25-23, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18, 17-15 Tuesday.

The Wildcatz (1-3 MBL-G) play Christopher today at 6:30 p.m. at Christopher.



•Pajaro Valley Def. Gilroy: The Aptos Mariners dropped their third league match of the year against the Santa Cruz Cardinals 174-177 Tuesday at Seascape Golf Club.

Stephanie Buecheler had the lowest score for the Mariners at 35.
