WATSONVILLE — A team of employees from Granite Construction spent their morning on Saturday beautifying Pajaro Middle School as part of the Adopt-a-School Program.

During the morning session, Granite employees were busy with cleanup and campus improvements, including painting, pressure washing, landscaping, removing debris, installing new basketball nets and clearing an area for a new school garden.

Campus beautification is part of a two-year commitment to the school, focusing on campus improvements and student alliance. Other activities planned include Career Days, an Honor Roll BBQ, a monthly Buddy Reading Program, a Recycling Program and field trips/class education sessions.

All of the events are coordinated and time volunteered by Granite employees.

The Adopt-a-School program is a nationwide initiative that partners education with business and private sectors in the community to access the resources and talents within the business community to enhance and enrich the educational experience in public schools within local school districts.

A pillar in the community, Granite also recently donated land to Monterey County for Pajaro’s new Granite Park. The company is also a proud sponsor and volunteer of the Second Harvest Food Bank, Adopt-a-Family Program, Red Cross and Save Our Shores.
