WATSONVILLE A Watsonville man reportedly passed out briefly behind the wheel of his truck and swerved into oncoming traffic before overcorrecting and smashing into a tree in front of a mobile home park on Airport Boulevard Thursday.

The man, 62, was taken to Watsonville Community Hospital with minor injuries.

According to Watsonville Police Officer Julio Romero, the man was driving a silver, 2004 GMC pickup southbound on Airport Boulevard approximately 2:50 p.m. when he crashed through a chain-link fence and into a tree in front of Colonial Manor mobile home park. The crash took out 50 feet of the 6-foot high fence.

Nobody else was injured in the crash.

A 20-year resident of the mobile home park said she didn't see the crash, but heard it.

"It scared me to death," the resident said, who chose not to be identified.
