Anita Jano Vidak was born in Watsonville to Peter Jano and Nike Alaga Jano on April 11, 1917. She was one of four children. Anita died unexpectedly on September 16, 2013 at Watsonville Community Hospital.
She was married to Luke Vidak for well over 50 years before he passed away in December of 1993. They made their home in Watsonville. With their business partners, they opened Bi-Rite Markets in Watsonville and Freedom and the Sherwood Market in Salinas. In later years, the Vidaks partnered with Dede and Eddie Philips to build and manage the East Lake Village Shopping Center before selling it and going into retirement.
Anita spent many enjoyable years as a member of the Monterey Bay Dog Training Club Inc. working and supporting the clubís many activities.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Luane Vidak; cousins, Bill Bachan, AllisMarie McCormack, Denise Panzich and their families. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Valley Catholic Church (East Lake Ave., Watsonville) on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Mehlís Colonial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
