WATSONVILLE ó Maria Concepcion Gonzalez Serrano died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. She was 77.
Mrs. Serrano was born in San Pedro Tesistan, Jalisco, Mexico, on Dec. 9, 1935 to Federico Gonzalez and Maria de Jesus Mena. Mrs. Serrano and her husband Alberto of 60 years settled with their family in this area over 30 years ago. She enjoyed watching TV novelas and playing loteria with her family. She loved to care for her grandchildren and listen to music: Jose Alfredo Jimenez and Hermanas Huerta. She helped many with her knowledge of massage and home remedies. Mrs. Serrano was very devoted to her Catholic faith.
Mrs. Serrano is survived by her husband, Alberto Serrano; three sons, Jorge (Maria), Ernesto and Alberto Jr. Serrano; two daughters, Socorro (Diego) Languren and Guillermina (Santana) Serrano; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers and 10 sisters.
Visitation will be held at Mehlís Colonial Chapel on Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m., with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Assumption Church on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
