Man who attacked ex-wife gets 15 years

WATSONVILLE A Watsonville man who stabbed his ex-wife several times in June 2012 was sentenced Aug. 29 to 15 years in prison.

According to police, Edgar Raya, 30, stabbed the woman during an argument at the Pacifica Apartments on the 200 block of Pacifica Boulevard near Ramsay Park.

Witnesses reported to 911 dispatchers that the woman was covered in blood, and that the fight had escalated on a second floor breezeway of an apartment complex.

Watsonville Police arrived and arrested Raya. Watsonville Fire and American Medical Response paramedics treated the woman at the scene before taking her to Watsonville Community Hospital with a stab wound to her hand. She also had injuries to her abdomen and arms.

Police recovered the knife at the scene, and Raya reportedly confessed to the attack.

A witness said he heard the argument and then heard the woman scream. He then ran to get between the Raya and the woman.
