WATSONVILLE — Some three dozen students and their families packed the Ramsay Park Family Center Saturday to celebrate the latest Monsbey College graduation.

The private vocational college in Watsonville offers programs in a variety of health-related fields, including the most popular program for those wishing to become certified nursing assistants.

Annette Carranza, a single mother of three from Santa Cruz, graduated Saturday from the college’s clinical medical assistant program.

“I feel now that I have a path in my life,” said Carranza, who was diagnosed with cancer after beginning the program.

She said she worked hard to complete it in six months despite her illness, in large part pushed by a desire to provide a better life for her three children, ages 2, 6 and 8 years old.
