WATSONVILLE — Dana Sales, who has been on the Santa Cruz County Office of Education Board of Trustees for the past two decades, announced Thursday that he will run for the Fourth District seat on the county’s Board of Supervisors in the June election.

Sales will go up against incumbent Greg Caput, who has served since he beat Tony Campos in November 2010.

“I think I can do a better job of making things happen,” he said.

A Watsonville native, Sales attended Salsipuedes School which has since become Alianza Charter School. He graduated from Watsonville High School in 1974.

He attended the United States Naval Academy, but came home in his senior year, and has made a career from real estate. He has been a broker associate at David Lyng and Associates since 2000.

He has also been a drummer on the Watsonville Community Band since 1991, an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for nearly as long, and has been active in numerous community organizations all his life.
