WATSONVILLE A man armed with a handgun robbed a jewelry store on Freedom Boulevard Wednesday.

Watsonville Police Master Officer Jess Ojeda said officers were initially tipped of the event by an alarm at 11:26 a.m. Police learned that a masked suspect walked into Ideal Jewelry, on the 1400 block of Freedom Boulevard, brandished a gun and demanded cash from a clerk.

As the suspect fled the store, for unknown reasons, he left the stolen loot behind before exiting the front door. The suspect was seen entering an older model maroon Chevy Suburban in the parking lot. The suspect fled in the vehicle on Arthur Road and was last seen in the area of Arthur Road and Crescent Drive.

No one was harmed in the incident.
