WATSONVILLE — The Watsonville man who shot and killed one man and seriously injured a woman in a July 25 shooting last year will likely spend the rest of his life in prison after he pleaded guilty Monday to murder and other charges, Santa Cruz County District Attorney Bob Lee announced Monday.
Michael Neal Miller, 35, faces 60 years to life for first-degree murder, attempted murder, and special allegations of using of a gun during the commission of the offenses.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 18.
“The 60 to life sentence will ensure that Mr. Miller will spend the rest of his life behind bars where he belongs,” said Assistant District Attorney Johanna Schonfield. “The surviving victim and the deceased victim’s family expressed their satisfaction with the sentence and their appreciation of being spared the trauma of going through trial.”
