WATSONVILLE — Louise Mary Cameron of Watsonville died on Sunday, July 14, 2013. She was 95.
Mrs. Cameron was born on Jan. 19, 1918, in Penokee, Kan. to Ida and Benjamin Niehaus. As a young woman, she worked with the local doctor by assisting in the transition of newborn infants and working with the new mothers. She met the love of her life, Wesley, while serving lunch to the local men that were assisting in the harvest; and they were married in 1935. Mrs. Cameron obtained her Red Cross Nurses Training certificate during World War II. In Feb. 1945 the family moved to California, settling in Watsonville in 1946.
Mrs. Cameron is survived by her sister, Eleanor Morel of Kansas; children, Raymond (Ruth) Cameron of Fresno, Carroll (Barbara) Cameron of Watsonville and Mary (Donald) Love of Watsonville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Wesley.
Graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. Reception to follow at First Baptist Church of Watsonville, 101 Madison St. In lieu of flowers, make donations in her name to First Baptist Church of Watsonville, Second Harvest Food Bank of Watsonville or your favorite charity.
