APTOS — The Kingsmen Car Club of Twin Lakes Church will host their seventh annual Hot Rods on the Green Car show Saturday and Sunday on the church campus at 2701 Cabrillo College Drive in Aptos.

The event showcases hot rods, custom, classic and vintage cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles and attracts several thousand visitors.

Day-of-event registration is $30. Check-in times for car show entrants are Saturday at 8 a.m. and Sunday at 7:30 a.m.

The show is free to the public.

On Saturday, the car show begins at 10 a.m. At noon, the Yo-Yo Champions from the National Yo-Yo Museum in Chico will put on a demonstration. A “loaded with goodies” raffle is at 4 p.m.

The show closes for the day at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s hours are 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with the “Winners’ Circle and Best of Show” awards ceremony at noon.

On Saturday, Carmel Valley Roasting Company’s mobile cafe will serve up early morning fare — coffee and espresso drinks and gourmet breakfast muffins and sandwiches from 6 a.m. to noon.

For lunch and dinner on Saturday, Zameen Cuisine of Aptos, along with other vendors, will provide a variety of meal choices.

Whiting’s Foods’ new “Dip-n-Dots” trailer will serve ice cream treats.

Music will be provided by a local DJ and there will be activities for the kids. T-shirts, car show posters and an assortment of scale model cars will be for sale.

All proceeds from the event go to the Kingsmen’s High School Apprentice Program, where volunteer adult leaders mentor high-school age young men and women in a safe and encouraging environment on the church campus, using a common interest in cars to teach workplace skills and safety, and to learn the value of teamwork and cooperation to achieve goals.
