Alexander Tinaza

APTOS — An Aptos man was arrested Sunday and charged with felony vandalism after he allegedly spray painted several fences and a vehicle in the area of Soquel Drive and Peoples Lane, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday.

According to the SCSO, a citizen called after seeing Alexander James Tinaza, 19, using spray paint to vandalize a fence.

When deputies arrived and contacted Tinaza, they saw him try to hide a can of spray paint in the bushes. The paint matched fresh graffiti 50 feet away, and the symbol he had painted matched a tattoo on Tinaza’s body, deputies said.

Damages were estimated at $2,200.

Tinaza was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on $5,000 bail, jail records showed.
