WATSONVILLE The Salsipuedes Creek levee trail will close Monday as workers prepare to begin phase two of the Pajaro River Bench Excavation Project.

The phase, which is expected to begin in full on July 8, includes restoring the Salsipuedes Creek levee between Highway 152 and where it joins the river, removing an estimated 190,000 cubic yards of sediment and debris.

The trail will remain closed through Oct. 15. Signs have been posted along the trail to inform the public about the closure.
