WATSONVILLE — A two-car crash Monday around 9 p.m. on Freedom Boulevard resulted in multiple injuries and sent one of the cars crashing into a fence and a front yard.

There were two people in each car, a Mazda and a Lexus sedan, witnesses said. At least two of the occupants were taken from the scene in ambulances.

The male passenger of the Lexus sedan was walking around at 9:20 p.m., talking to California Highway Patrol officers. The female driver of the Lexus was being loaded onto a stretcher and was crying in pain.

At the same time, 30 yards from the Lexus, firefighters were working to remove the passenger of the Mazda, which was stuck in a large bush.

The conditions of the crash victims were not known at press time.

Charles Campbell was home when the silver Mazda came crashing into his yard at 2305 Freedom Boulevard, near Buena Vista Drive, around 9 p.m.

The Lexus swerved to miss a third car then smashed into the Mazda, which “went through my front yard,” said Campbell, holding a flashlight on the Mazda to help first responders. “I was just getting ready to eat dinner ... (the crash) shook the house.”
