Five Warriors invited to Mini Camp

Five Santa Cruz Warriors players and two coaches participated in the NBA Development League’s fourth annual Elite Mini Camp, which tipped off yesterday and runs through today at Chicago’s Quest Multisports gym.

The camp features top 2012-13 NBA D-League prospects, giving players the opportunity to display their skills and be evaluated by NBA team personnel.

The Santa Cruz Warriors are sending the most players of any team in the NBA D-League.

Mickell Gladness, Lance Goulbourne, Stefhon Hannah, Darington Hobson and Cameron Jones will represent the team, while Head Coach Nate Bjorkgren and Assistant Coach Vitaly Potapenko are two of the 10 D-League coaches who will run the drills and exercises during the camp.



• Mount Madonna 3, Soquel 0: The Mount Madonna Hawks made it to their third straight Central Coast Section title game with a 25-21, 25-22, 31-29 win over the Soquel Knights on Saturday evening at Independence High School in San Jose.

Jake Getz had 24 kills on the night, and he led the Hawks to the three set sweep of the Knights.

The Hawks will try to conqure their demons that have haunted them for the past two years today at Independence High School.

They’ll take on Leigh High School. Neither team has lost a single set coming into the final.
