PVLL: Jacob Haney’s late homer leads Cubs past Rays

The Cubs edged out the Rays 6-5 with Jacob Haney’s home run during the fifth inning in Saturday’s Pajaro Valley Little League action.

Dylan Vargas had two singles and Kyle Passey had one.

Marco Pezzini hit two singles for the Rays.

In other Pajaro Valley Little League action:

•Padres 16, Giants 6: The Padres battered the Giants on Saturday.

Both James and Trevor Sandoval finished with a single, a double and two RBIs. Cory Parker added two RBIs and Ryan Lewis hit four singles.

The giants were led by Johnny Ceballos’ three-run homer.

•Braves 2, Astros 0: Andrew Seymour’s two-run single in the third was enough to bring home a win for the Braves on Saturday.

Seymour also threw a one-hitter. He finished the day with the one hit, two walks and 12 strikeouts.

Derek Kajisa had the only hit for the Astros.

AAA Minors

• Yankees 11, Giants 8: The Yankees beat the Giants thanks to Albert Diaz’s two RBIs.

Diaz finished the day with two singles and a double to go along with his RBIs.

Isaiah Gonzales had a double.

Robbie Ditlevsen scored two runs for the Giants.

• Athletics 8, Cardinals 6: Joziah Ibarra batted in half of the Athletics’ eight runs and they beat the Cardinals.

Ibarra finished the day with two singles.

Diego Orta smacked two singles for the Cards.
