WATSONVILLE Runners of all ages will sprint through Ramsay Park and the surrounding slough trails Sunday during the annual Mother's Day Run for Shelter.

The run, now in its 29th year, typically raises about $55,000 for Pajaro Valley Shelter Services, said Suzy Hunt, development director.

This event will feature a 1K Kid's Fun Run beginning at 7:45 a.m., a 5K walk at 8 a.m. and run at 8:10 a.m. and a 10K run that starts at 8:30 a.m.

Starting at Ramsay Park, runners make their way through the Harkins Slough Road trail, looping back to the park.

Around 660 people participated in the run last year, Hunt said, with 250 registered for this year so far. Hundreds of runners usually register on the day of the event, she said.
