CORRALITOS — Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a summit area man for being a felon in possession of a firearm Friday in Corralitos.

Sgt. Mike MacDonald said deputies got help from Watsonville Police about 10 a.m. in conducting a high-risk car stop on a Mercedes sedan being driven by Erin Fischer, 56. The car was stopped on southbound Freedom south of Corralitos Road.

MacDonald said investigators had been keeping a watch on Fischer and his property for the past several days because they received information Fischer was terrorizing his neighborhood. Deputies were hoping to stop Fischer as he departed his property because they feared his property might be rigged with explosives.

In 2001 he was arrested for having explosives.

During the car stop Friday deputies found a loaded Ruger .44 revolver in his car. MacDonald described it as a cowboy-style weapon. After the arrest, investigators served a search warrant at Fischer’s residence. During the search on the 200 block of Upper Highlands Road, in the mountains above Corralitos, deputies discovered a large amount of large caliber ammunition and a rifle.
