Eraclia “Jackie” Rodriguez passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.  She was 79.

Mrs. Rodriguez was born and raised in La Junta, Colorado on June 8, 1933 to Marcelino and Juana Lopez.  At the age of 13 she moved to California to be with her father.  She worked at Del Mar Foods for 20 years and occasionally worked as a translator for CAB.  In her spare time she did volunteer work for various organizations, including Meals on Wheels.  Her current mission was with Loaves and Fishes, helping supply her homeless brothers and sisters with socks.

Jackie was a devoted Catholic and was a member of the Notre Dame Prayer Group and the Omega Society that helped families with funeral expenses.  Along with Rose Miller, she started the Adoration Program at St. Patrick’s Church.  Since 2004 Jackie attended adoration at Valley Catholic Church every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.  One of her most spiritual experiences was when she got to meet Pope John Paul II in person.

Jackie also had her own small business designing flower arrangements.  She supplied St. Patrick’s Church with flowers from 1979-1989 as well as many quinceaneras and weddings.  She was a wonderful baker and made and designed cakes for children’s birthdays and other special occasions.  She also loved to travel, sing, dance, and was a huge boxing fan.  Jackie had a great sense of humor and always saw the good in everything.

Jackie is survived by her children, Andras Gonzalez, Paul Garcia, Felecia Garcia Fischer, Carmen Rodriguez, and Javier Rodriguez; her brother Johnny Lopez; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Contributions can be made in Jackie’s name to Loaves and Fishes, 150 2nd St., Watsonville, CA 95076.
