WATSONVILLE — Marjorie L. (Marge) Evett died on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Watsonville Community Hospital. She was 77.
A native of Walla Walla, Wash., she has lived in Watsonville since 1962. Ms. Evett worked for a brief time in the office of Watsonville High School before beginning her 25 year career as an executive secretary with Granite Construction Co.
She was a member and volunteer with the Y.W.C.A, and she also belonged to Y.L.I. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick’s Church. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
Ms. Evett is survived by her husband, Manny Gutierrez, of the family home in Watsonville; her children, Debra (Scott) Lewis of Chico, and Glen (Annie) Evett of Salinas; brother, Chuck Ruble, and two sisters, Evelyn and Birdie, all of Wenatchee, Wash.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-9 p.m., with a Rosary/Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
