SAN JOSE — Vernajohn Rosalee Galvan died at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose on Sunday, April 14, 2013. She was 67.
She was born in Nogales, Ariz. on March 24, 1946, to Vernon and Johnnie Smith. In her early 20s she moved to San Jose for about 20 years and eventually she returned to Arizona and lived there up until her last five months, when she moved to her daughter’s home in San Jose.
She worked as a supervisor at a waste water treatment center for many years. She was highly educated and loved to work on puzzles and Sudoku in her spare time. She also liked to garden and was an awesome cook. Above all she loved her grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her son, David Jason Galvan; daughter, Alisa Monet Salvestrini; brother, Vernon Earl Smith; sister, Virginia Valdez; and 6 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Pioneer Cemetery on Friday at 1 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mehl’s Colonial Chapel.
